PILOT
Alcoholic Chicagoan father, Frank Gallagher, is of no use to his dysfunctional family. With their mother absent, eldest daughter Fiona has been forced to take care of Frank and her five younger siblings: the intelligent Lip, the strong-hearted Ian, the sweet-hearted Debbie, the troublemaking Carl and baby Liam. At a dance club, Fiona's purse gets stolen; a handsome stranger named Steve tries to retrieve the purse. The next day, Steve buys Fiona a new Samsung washing machine to win her over. Fiona goes on a date with Steve and discovers he's a car thief. Meanwhile, Lip has suspicions about Ian's sexuality, and decides he should take him to a classmate, Karen Jackson, to confirm his suspicions. Karen's religious father, Eddie, discovers Karen performing oral sex on an unfazed Ian. Repulsed by his daughter's actions, Eddie attempts to beat Lip and Ian, then later abandons his family. Lip is horrified when he uncovers Ian's sexual relationship with his married boss, Kash. Although Lip disapproves of the relationship, he shows acceptance over Ian's sexuality.
FRANK THE PLANK
Frank is brutally assaulted by Eddie. After Frank comes home in an awful condition, Steve and Frank get into an intense argument when Frank hits Ian. The next day, Frank suddenly goes missing. A manhunt for Frank begins, and the police get involved. Heavily intoxicated from the previous night, Frank is arrested in Toronto, with no memory of how he arrived there. Fiona finds out that Steve had smuggled Frank across the border while picking up a stolen car; Fiona orders Steve to get Frank back. After Steve successfully smuggles Frank back home in an RV, Fiona breaks up with him. Tony Markovich, a local cop who has had feelings for Fiona since childhood, asks Fiona out on a date. Frank is invited into the home of Sheila Jackson, Karen's agoraphobic and mentally ill mother. After having a brief sexual liaison with Sheila, Frank officially moves in with her, to Karen's dismay.
AUNT GINGER
Fiona has sex with Tony, but is horrified to learn that she had taken his virginity. Mandy Milkovich flirts with Ian and tries to instigate a sexual encounter with him; Ian quickly rejects her. Heartbroken, Mandy tells her brothers that Ian had raped her; Ian and Lip are targeted by the Milkovich brothers as a result. Ian comes out to Mandy, and she calls off her brothers; she also agrees to be his "girlfriend" in order to mask his sexuality. A social security worker visits the Gallagher home looking for Aunt Ginger, the owner of the family house who has supposedly been living in a Wisconsin nursing home. The family discovers that Aunt Ginger had actually died twelve years ago, and that Frank has been secretly cashing her checks. In order to save their home, Fiona gets a senile woman from a nursing home to pose as their aunt. Fiona declines a dinner date with Tony, and she ventures off to visit Steve.
CASEY CASDEN
A sad and lonely Debbie steals a toddler from a birthday party. When the town goes into a frenzy over the boy's disappearance, the family concocts a plan to return the boy to his family without drawing attention from the public and the police. The plan is successful, but the kidnapping incident leaves Fiona to question how she's raising the kids. Meanwhile, Eddie unexpectedly moves back in with his family, citing financial issues. Karen, still angry with her father for leaving, rebels by trying to seduce Frank; he rebuffs her. At the Alibi Room, head bartender Kevin Ball tries to get rid of a flirty girl by falsely claiming he is going to marry his girlfriend, Veronica. Frank overhears this and loudly celebrates while Veronica's mother is present. As a result, Kevin drunkenly proposes to Veronica, who happily accepts. Kevin later informs Fiona that he's already married.
THREE BOYS
Veronica's wedding plans fall south as she discovers that Kevin is separated but still legally married to his abusive wife. When Veronica finds out that she comes with a substantial dowry, Kevin and the Gallagher clan set up a fake wedding to collect the money. Things quickly fall apart when Veronica's pyromaniac brother Marty breaks out of prison in hopes of attending the wedding. Veronica and Fiona drug Marty temporarily knocking him out and the wedding continues without incident. Frank is forced to schedule a biopsy for a strange third lump in his scrotum. He temporarily joins a cancer support group until his results come back negative. Kash makes time for Ian while his wife, Linda, is out of town. However, Ian feels uncomfortable being present in Kash's bedroom and leaves.
KILLER CARL
Carl gets a note sent home from his teacher, who is concerned about his violent behavior. Fiona tries to prove to Carl's teachers that the Gallagher home is suitable for rehabilitating a delinquent, but the school officials threaten to call Child Protective Services if Carl does not show up with a legal guardian. Frank declines to show up to Carl's meeting, but ultimately shows up to Karen's school event, to Fiona's dismay. Steve attends Carl's meeting and lets him off the hook by exchanging a marijuana deal with the principal. Frank is hunted down by two ruthless thugs after he fails to follow through with an illegal money-making scheme; Frank must repay them $6,000. Linda begins complaining to Kash and Ian about the shoplifting in the store, and she teaches Kash and Ian how to use a gun. A professor catches Lip taking the SAT's for other students, and warns him to never do it again. But, impressed by Lip's intelligence, the professor has some educational opportunities for him.
FRANK GALLAGHER: LOVING HUSBAND, DEVOTED FATHER
Frank continues to be hunted down by the two thugs, who threaten to kill him if they don't receive their $6,000. The family helps Frank fake his own death to convince the thugs to leave town. Steve gets Fiona to spend the night at an expensive hotel, leaving Liam in agoraphobic Sheila's care. When Liam waddles off outside, Sheila gains enough courage to briefly go outside and save Liam, making significant progress in overcoming her agoraphobia. Linda discovers her husband's affair through the store's security cameras; Linda punches Ian and blackmails Kash into giving her a baby. Mandy's thug brother, Mickey Milkovich, continues to steal from Kash's store. When Mickey steals Kash's gun, Ian visits the Milkovich house to confront Mickey. The two get into a physical altercation that turns into sex.
IT'S TIME TO KILL THE TURTLE
Frank is offered $3,000 if he can stay sober for two weeks as part of a hospital study. Sheila worries that Frank is no longer attracted to her now that he's sober. Though most of the family is relieved with Frank's new behavior, Lip warns Debbie and Carl that Frank's sobriety isn't going to last, as Frank will return to drinking once he receives the money. When Frank begins doing destructive home renovations, the family agrees to sacrifice Frank's sober behavior and force booze down his throat. Ian continues his sexual relationship with Mickey. Kevin and Veronica take in a teenage foster kid, Ethel, who originates from a polygamous sect where she was stuck in a predatory marriage with an adult man. When Lip takes a tour at the university, Karen questions their relationship; Lip agrees that they're strictly friends with benefits. Steve visits his wealthy family out of town, and it is revealed that his real name is Jimmy Lishman.
BUT AT LAST CAME A KNOCK
Debbie stalks Steve and discovers his double life. Debbie extorts him to keep it a secret, and Steve reveals he has bought the house directly next to the Gallaghers. Lip works with Steve in order to buy concert tickets for Karen. Kevin and Veronica want to foster Ethel's baby son, Jonah. Eddie invites Karen to a purity ball, a religious reconciliation event where girls pledge their chastity. Ian and Mickey are caught having sex in the store by Kash. When Mickey later attempts to shoplift, Kash shoots him in the leg. Frank has settlement money coming his way, but he needs his ex-wife Monica's signature on the papers. Frank lures Monica into town with a fake grocery contest, and discovers that Monica has a girlfriend. Monica reunites with her kids, who are ambivalent about her return. Fiona is enraged when Monica reveals she wants to take Liam to live with her; she criticizes Monica for her absence and leaving her to fend for the family. When Monica refuses to compromise, Fiona announces: "I'm done."
NANA GALLAGHER HAD AN AFFAIR
Fiona moves in with Steve next door, keeping an eye on the kids while Monica tries to be their mom again. A paternity test on Liam is done, and the family finds out that Frank is Liam's biological father. Lip and Ian also take a paternity test; Lip reveals that Ian is not actually Frank's son, but the father is probably one of Frank's brothers. Monica, having done enough damage within the family, willingly returns Liam to Fiona and leaves town with her girlfriend. Frank begins getting stalked by a disability worker, who is trying to prove Frank's disability fraud. Frank schemes a plan in which he deliberately gets Carl hit by the worker's car; Frank uses Carl's injury to blackmail the worker. Ian visits Mickey in prison. Karen attends the purity ball with Eddie, in hopes of reconciling their relationship. However, Eddie angrily calls Karen a whore when she admits her extensive sexual history at the ball, as required by the ball's program. Sheila kicks Eddie out of the house and overcomes her agoraphobia.
DADDYZ GIRL
Jasmine, a school mother from Debbie's class who befriends Fiona. However, her intimate and unusual behavior bemuses Fiona. Lip sets out to find Ian's real father. Upon meeting each of Frank's brothers, Lip believes that Frank's affluent brother, Clayton, is Ian's biological father. However, Ian isn't as eager to trade up families. Tony discovers Steve's car-stealing business and beats Steve up in an alley. He advises Steve to either turn himself in, or skip town without telling Fiona. Lip and Ian spend the night in jail on grand theft auto charges when Lip is caught driving one of Steve's stolen cars. Following the purity ball incident, Karen begins to spiral out of control; she trashes Eddie's room, dyes her hair black and smashes the windows of Eddie's car. When Karen sees that Frank is dosed up on Oxy for a nail gun injury, Karen rapes Frank and broadcasts it on her video blog Daddyz Girl to get back at her father.
FATHER FRANK, FULL OF GRACE
Tony gets Lip and Ian released from jail without charges. The incident strains Fiona and Steve's relationship, though Fiona admits to Veronica that she may be falling in love with Steve. Under Tony's ultimatum, Steve makes an attempt to get Fiona to skip town with him; Lip overhears and encourages Fiona to go. Ian comes out to Fiona. Lip visits a depressed Karen and the two have sex. After Lip states that he loves her, Karen breaks up with him, feeling guilty for betraying him. When Karen's video blog goes viral, Frank is hunted down by both Lip and Eddie, who believe that Frank was the instigator. Broken over past events, Eddie ultimately ties a cinderblock to his feet and kills himself by jumping into the frozen lake, while Karen apologizes to Lip and explains what really happened. Later that night, Frank shows up outside the Gallagher house begging for Lip's forgiveness; Lip urinates on Frank from his window, and Frank takes it as his punishment. Fiona decides against leaving with Steve, and instead takes up an office job at Jasmine's workplace.
SUMMERTIME
Frank loses a bet with Baby, a bar patron, and is in over his head $10,000. Frank uses Liam to win sympathy panhandling until Baby takes Liam as collateral. Lip wants to continue seeing Karen, who is now attending Sex Addicts Anonymous meetings and is enjoying a sex-free relationship with an older group member, Jody. Fiona and Veronica are waitressing at a local club. During her shift, Fiona meets Jasmine's secret lover, David, and she flirts with a handsome banker, Adam. Kash secretly leaves his pregnant wife and children for another man. Ian expresses interest in attending West Point, and Lip agrees to help him with his application and grades. Debbie and Carl run a babysitting service in the house to bring in extra funds. Veronica finds out that Kevin and Ethel have been growing marijuana in the bar's basement. When the Gallaghers discover Frank's bet, Fiona is able to retrieve Liam by giving the marijuana to Baby as compensation.
SUMMER LOVING
As Sheila overcomes more of her agoraphobia, a worried Frank finds a new financial plan in former bar patron Dottie, whose declining health makes her an ideal match for him. However, Dottie refuses to get intimate with Frank, stating that her heart could explode if her blood pressure goes up. Fiona juggles her job, family life, and a burgeoning love life; Jasmine tries setting Fiona up with a sugar daddy, Richard. Karen continues to see Jody while pursuing a sexual relationship with Lip. After being released from jail, Mickey reunites with Ian, who helps Mickey get a job at the Kash and Grab. Debbie and Carl deal with their growth spurts on wanting more space around the house. Veronica takes some of the elderly people from the retirement home on an excursion. Shortly after the excursion, an elderly man named Harry dies, which Debbie witnesses.
I'LL LIGHT A CANDLE FOR YOU EVERY DAY
Fiona decides to reconnect with Craig Heisner, her high school crush who is now married. When Fiona finds an abandoned purse with $500 in it, she assumes her luck is finally changing. Feeling guilty, Fiona later collects the $500 to return to the purse's owner, but ultimately keeps the money when the owner insults her for living on the South Side. Frank is doing anything to get Dottie's money, including marrying her and intercepting the page telling her she has a new heart. When Dottie finds out that the new heart was given to somebody else, she offers Frank two grand to assist her into suicide. Frank reluctantly does so by having sex with Dottie, which causes her heart to explode. Following Harry's passing, Debbie becomes obsessed with death. Jody asks Frank for Karen's hand in marriage; Karen accepts his proposal, and subsequently ends her sexual fling with Lip. Kevin wants to buy the Alibi Room, to Veronica's dismay. After having an ultimately dissatisfying date with Craig, Fiona reconnects with Steve.
A BEAUTIFUL MESS
After sleeping with Craig, Fiona is unprepared for the arrival of his irate wife. Debbie is overwhelmed with daycare business, and the stress manifests itself into an intense rash. Worrying that she's putting too much stress on the kids, Fiona forces Debbie to throw a slumber party for fun. Debbie develops a crush on Carl's friend, Little Hank, and invites him. When Sheila plans to walk to the Alibi Room, Frank realizes his days in the Jackson household are numbered. While walking outside, an airplane wheel falls directly in front of Sheila; the incident causes Sheila to relapse. Ethel bonds with Malik, a teenage father on Kevin's youth basketball team. Ian marches forward in his efforts to get into West Point. Lip attempts to dig up dirt on Jody, and he launches a post-coital plot to get Mandy to seduce Jody. However, Jody rebuffs Mandy and informs Karen, who beats Lip and reveals her pregnancy in front of the Gallaghers.
FATHER'S DAY
When Eddie Jackson's body turns up in the lake, Frank tries to collect Eddie's life insurance benefits and pension, despite being a prime suspect in his death. Following the airplane wheel incident, combined with the news of Eddie's death, Sheila is unable to leave the house. Ian is visited by a colonel who personally delivers a West Point application for Lip, creating a fallout between Lip and Ian. Karen and Jody get married. Frank is arrested on sexual assault charges for Karen's Daddyz Girl video blog; Frank is released when Karen tells the police that she was the instigator. After catching Kevin secretly visiting another woman, Veronica suspects that Kevin is cheating, but instead finds out he is taking reading classes for his dyslexia. Ethel's older husband, Clyde, is stabbed in prison. Fiona attends a ritzy wedding with Richard, and she is caught lying about her background. Steve returns to Chicago and briefly reunites with Fiona.
CAN I HAVE A MOTHER
Frank's mother, Peggy "Grammy" Gallagher, is released from prison on medical furlough. Peggy clashes with Sheila and forces Frank to help her extort money from an old acquaintance. Fiona and Adam go on a double date with Steve and his wife, Estefania, a drug dealer's daughter whom he only married to survive. Nevertheless, Fiona and Steve have a romantic encounter in the bathroom, causing Adam to leave immediately. Karen and Jody host a wedding party, which is crashed by both Lip and Peggy; Sheila and Peggy fight in front of the partygoers. Lip confronts Karen and reveals he wants her to get an abortion; Karen slaps him. After finding out that Clyde had died, Ethel packs her bags and secretly runs away with Malik. Sheila discovers that Eddie had changed his beneficiary, leaving his money for Karen. Frank lashes out at Jody for this, causing Sheila to kick Frank out of her house. Debbie informs Fiona of Steve's second life.
A BOTTLE OF JEAN NATE
Jasmine hosts a party on David's boat and invites Fiona, but neglects to inform her that Steve and Estefania are also invited. Fiona does her best to avoid Steve, but in a shocking turn of events, Jasmine kisses Fiona and professes her love for her. After Jasmine is kicked off David's boat, Jasmine asks Fiona if she can stay at the Gallagher home. When Fiona refuses, Jasmine angrily ends their friendship. Karen finds Jody is becoming too overbearing; she tricks Jody into signing a prenuptial agreement, and then kicks him out of the house. Karen then rekindles her sexual relationship with Lip. Under Peggy's advice, Ian and Lip make up by "fighting it out". Ethel's departure makes Kevin and Veronica realize they want a baby. Fiona unites with Frank to get rid of his mother when Peggy gets Carl involved in a homemade meth lab. The family finds out Peggy has terminal cancer.
PARENTHOOD
Frank accidentally walks in on Ian and Mickey having sex. Worried that Frank will tell his homophobic father, Mickey initially plots to kill Frank; he later reneges on his plan and instead punches a cop to purposely send himself back into juvie. Lip wants to quit school to focus on becoming a father, but Fiona tells him that if he reconsiders, she'll go back and get her GED. Karen wants to give her baby up for adoption. Lip takes Karen to a number of adoption agencies, but Karen seems more concerned about the money than her baby's future. After Lip purposely gets himself expelled, Fiona tells Lip that he has to attend school or leave; Lip decides to leave. With Peggy's health rapidly declining, Jody and Sheila look after her; Peggy and Sheila reconcile in the process. Wanting to hasten her own death, Peggy gets Sheila to smother her with a pillow. Upset and confused over his mother's death, Frank reconnects with Monica.
HURRICANE MONICA
Monica blows back into town and immediately hooks up with Frank for more shenanigans, but the kids are left wondering if she's finally here to stay. Though Fiona is annoyed, Monica tries to connect with her kids; Monica takes Ian to a gay club, and wins him over with her genuine sympathy over his break-up with Mickey. Monica also thanks Fiona for her care with the kids. Frank is eager to pick up Peggy's ashes and reclaim the cash he believes she's hidden; Frank learns from Jody that Peggy did not leave money for him, but did send money to his three brothers. Unable to stay at Karen's house, Lip decides to move into Steve and Estefania's apartment. Lip hears Estefania having phone sex with a man named Marco, and he informs Steve. Sheila and Jody, having spent more time together in the house, end up having sex. Mandy's violent father, Terry Milkovich, breaks into the Gallagher house and punches Ian because Mandy is pregnant.
A GREAT CAUSE
As Monica settles into being with the kids again, Fiona begins to plan her future by taking GED classes and taking initiatives to move up in her club job. However, Monica finds the Gallagher's "Squirrel Fund" and blows all of it on drugs and unnecessary items with Frank. Steve attempts to smuggle Marco into the United States to reunite Estefania with her true love and get back into Fiona's good graces, but complications arise when they can't find him. Terry continues to hunt Ian down, while Lip wonders if he impregnated Mandy. Lip and Ian later learn the true identity of the father of Mandy's baby her own father impregnated her while he was drunk. Ian initiates a fundraiser for Mandy to help pay for an abortion. Sheila and Jody take in an addict who's in hospice. Monica gets herself and Carl arrested after letting him drive a car, forcing Lip to bail them out. After Lip yells at Fiona for her neglectfulness, Fiona breaks down.
JUST LIKE THE PILGRIMS INTENDED
The Gallaghers prepare a Thanksgiving dinner, despite Monica refusing to get out of bed. Lip prepares for the arrival of his baby by creating a movie for when the child grows up. Lip moves in with Mandy; Mandy's brothers get Lip to help them with a robbery, but Lip backs out at the last minute. Marco finally shows up and is enraged that Estefania had sex with Steve. In response, Steve agrees to allow Marco to take his apartment and steal his identity. Ian goes to a gay club and sleeps with an older businessman who calls himself Ned. Karen informs Sheila that she knows about her affair with Jody. During the Thanksgiving dinner, Monica attempts to commit suicide by slitting her wrists in the kitchen, abruptly ending the family's gathering. Karen goes into labor and gives birth; the baby turns out to be Asian and has Down syndrome. Karen reveals that the father is most likely Timmy Wong, angering Lip. When the baby's adoptive parents don't want the baby, Sheila and Jody end up stealing the baby from the maternity ward.
FIONA INTERRUPTED
The Gallaghers reel from the recent events of Monica's attempted suicide and the birth of Karen's developmentally delayed child. Frank plots to free Monica from the psychiatric institution. Monica initially objects, but eventually decides to escape with a fellow patient after Frank and Debbie help them climb out of a window. After escaping, Monica runs away, informing Debbie that the family would be better without her sticking around. Steve, who the family calls Jimmy now, gets back into Fiona's good grades and decides to let her meet his family. Ian discovers when meeting Jimmy's family that Ned, the man he slept with a few days earlier, is really Jimmy's father, Lloyd. Sheila and Jody name Karen's baby Hymie. When Sheila refuses to give the baby back to the hospital, Karen packs her bags and runs away. Lip tells Karen she will regret the decision in the future. Fiona passes her GED and convinces Lip to finish high school. Mandy pushes Lip to move back in with his family; Lip returns to the Gallagher house and makes up with Fiona.
EL GRAN CA ON
Fiona tries to adapt to living with Jimmy after he moves in with her. Jimmy is dealing with the sudden appearance of Nando, Estefania's father, who kills Marco in front of Jimmy and Estefania. Jimmy is then forced to help dismember Marco's body and dispose of it on a boat in the Great Lakes. Nando wants Jimmy to stay married to Estefania so she can become an American citizen. Frank wakes up in Mexico but is turned away at the border due to a lack of papers. He turns to being a drug mule to get through. Mandy unofficially moves into the Gallagher home; Fiona wants to know if Lip is being responsible about sex. Ian continues to meet up and have sex with Jimmy's father, Lloyd. Lip, Ian, Carl, and Mandy compete in a robot fighting competition. They win and put the $400 cash prize towards the past due property tax but, unbeknownst to anyone else, Fiona has put $1,000 down on an upcoming night at the club to be the club's promoter.
THE AMERICAN DREAM
Fiona faces new challenges as a party promoter, and she ends up losing $100 for the night. Fiona discovers that she only did fairly well because Lip had conned rich kids into coming to the club for a fake concert. Nando has assigned Beto to watch over Jimmy's every move. Lip's teachers and Mandy encourage Lip to prepare his resum and application for college. Frank staggers home and clashes with the rest of the Gallaghers due to his drunken antics. Debbie, who has shown Frank much kindness and love, is enraged when Frank ignorantly breaks her art project and doesn't care; Debbie snaps and hits Frank with a blunt object. An enraged Frank anonymously calls CPS on his own family. Sheila and Jody, struggling with parental life, desperately let Frank move in when he is able to quiet the baby Hymie. Ian deals with the return of Mickey, and tries to figure out if they're in a relationship. Veronica gets a visit from a woman who claims to be Kevin's wife.
MAY I TRIM YOUR HEDGES?
Fiona applies for a job at a grocery store, but the store manager makes sexual advances towards her. Veronica uses a hidden camera to catch the manager's inappropriate behavior and blackmail him into giving Fiona the job. Frank tries to use Hymie to scam a children's foundation for an autographed basketball to sell. When he discovers that the foundation is for children with cancer, Frank convinces Carl that he might be dying from cancer. Kevin's wife, Cheryl, is trying to get him back by pretending her sister's child is hers and his. When Veronica finds out, she fights with Cheryl and forces her to sign the divorce papers. After Debbie witnesses a man masturbating to her on the subway, Lip leads a crusade to take down sex offenders in the neighborhood. Jimmy spends time with Estefania creating false wedding photos in order to protect her from immigration services. Estefania initiates a sexual encounter with Jimmy. Ian is confused when Mickey sleeps with a neighborhood girl. Mickey later discovers Ian and Lloyd's relationship, leading Mickey to attack Lloyd.
THE HELPFUL GALLAGHERS
Mandy receives a call from her younger half-sister Molly, whose mother had recently died. Lip convinces Mandy to retrieve Molly in Milwaukee in order to save her from the foster care system. The Gallaghers find out that Molly is actually a boy, but was raised as a girl. Carl heads off to cancer camp, where the restrictions on the camp's activities frustrate Carl and the kids. Debbie works on holding her breath longer underwater. Sheila asks Frank for advice to get Jody to use her fetish toys; Frank reluctantly agrees to be Jody's sex coach. Fiona gathers a group of co-workers to discuss the boss's sexual advances towards them, but the meeting fails miserably. Jimmy learns that his parents are getting a divorce, and that his father was kicked out. When he brings Lloyd to spend the night at the Gallagher home, Lloyd gets in bed with Lip, whom he mistakes for Ian. Ian is forced to reveal his relationship with Lloyd, forcing Jimmy to deal with his father's sexuality.
THE SINS OF MY CARETAKER
A city employee notifies Fiona that the city will be doing sewer line work in the backyard, but Aunt Ginger is still buried in the backyard. Fiona makes Frank dig for the body before the city starts doing work. Fiona deals with the animosity of her co-workers over not giving in to the sexual advances of the boss. Jimmy is still struggling to deal with his father's true sexuality, and he turns to Estefania for emotional support after arguing with Fiona. Lloyd asks Ian to rob his house to get back his personal belongings; Ian recruits Mickey and his cousins for the job. Carl returns from cancer camp and Debbie gets bullied at the local pool. Sheila takes in a terminally ill nun who has taken a vow of silence, but later discovers that the nun has blogged about Jody's sex addiction online. The Gallaghers receive a visit from Child Protective Services.
CASCADING FAILURES
Fiona and Jimmy try to get the kids back after they are taken away by Child Protective Services, even going so far as to attempt to track Monica down. Fiona ultimately gets Frank to agree to clean up and petition for their return. Fiona quits her job at the grocery store when the manager won't let her off to go find the kids. As the petition for custody requires signatures from both parents, Fiona gets Sheila to pose as Monica for the petition. Terry Milkovich discovers Ian and Mickey having sex; Terry beats them both and forces Mickey to have sex with a prostitute, Svetlana, while forcing Ian to watch at gunpoint. Veronica convinces Kevin to have sex with Carol, as the artificial insemination isn't working. Fiona visits the family's case manager, who tentatively lets her listen to the anonymous phone call to CPS; Fiona finds out that Frank was the one who called in the CPS report.
A LONG WAY FROM HOME
Fiona prepares for her court hearing, having decided to attempt to get full custody of the children. To better her chances, Fiona forges a will in which Aunt Ginger leaves them with the house. Frank cleans up his antics in preparation for court. Jimmy deals with a sudden visitation by immigration. Sheila gets a visit from Timmy Wong and his mother. With Jody relapsing in his sex addiction, Sheila realizes she has an unfit home and decides to give Hymie back to his biological family. Sheila and Frank later stage an intervention for Jody. The next day, Karen returns home and reunites with Sheila and Jody. Debbie runs away from her foster home after having to do illegal manual labor along with the other children. After the incident with Terry, Mickey avoids Ian. Fiona finally faces Frank in court; the judge continues Frank's parental rights, but declares Fiona the other legal guardian of the children. Lip and Mandy try to file the forged will, but they find out that Patrick Gallagher has already filed an equally forged will that supersedes theirs.
WHERE THERE'S A WILL
The Gallaghers try to fight back on keeping the home against their cousin Patrick. Fiona and Jimmy start their new jobs. With Hymie back with his biological family, Sheila kicks Frank out. Frank becomes the sponsor of an eccentric AA member, Christopher, so he can have a place to stay. Karen instigates a fight between Mandy and Lip. After Mandy moves out of the Gallagher home, Lip visits Karen and they have sex. Meanwhile, Sheila learns that Karen had called the Wong family in order for them to take Hymie. Sheila confronts Karen; Karen claims that she wanted to return to a simpler time before Hymie. Veronica and Kevin continue their baby-making quest as Carol begins turning up the romance. When Patrick brings the police to evict the Gallaghers, Debbie claims that Patrick had sexually molested her. Patrick is subsequently arrested, and Fiona negotiates for a 50-year lease at $500 per month, down from the $1800 he originally wanted.
FRANK THE PLUMBER
Fiona starts a new office job and struggles with corporate culture, while Jimmy considers returning to medical school. Frank gets the idea of trying to get financial benefits under a domestic partnership program. When he's turned down, Frank unknowingly starts a city campaign for gay rights and becomes a local celebrity. Christopher dislikes all the publicity and makes Frank move out. Mandy secretly applies to colleges for Lip. After a possibly successful interview with MIT, Lip breaks things off with Karen, who leaves a threatening message to Mandy on her phone. Ian is upset when he finds out that Mickey is getting married. Debbie skips school to spend the day with Sheila, who is depressed from Karen's actions. Realizing she needs to reconcile with her daughter, Sheila apologizes to Karen for her previous mental illness issues. Before she can respond, Karen gets a text message from Lip to "meet [him] at the park." While walking to the park, Karen is run over by Mandy's car.
CIVIL WRONGS
As Fiona continues her new office job, Jimmy breaks the news to her about returning to medical school. He also tells the news to Beto, who states it'll be difficult to get Estefania to move with him. Frank continues his newfound fame as a gay rights spokesperson, and he attracts an anti-gay rights group that wants to "rid" Frank of his homosexuality by giving him women to have sex with. With that promise, and receiving twice the pay and a better hotel, Frank scams both groups but is eventually caught. Lip visits a coma-induced Karen in the hospital. He finds out from Sheila about the text message sent from his phone, and he realizes that it was Mandy who sent the text. Sheila and Jody break up at the hospital, and Jody gets Karen to wake from her coma by performing oral sex on her. Ian finds out that Mickey is marrying Svetlana. Veronica and Kevin find out that Carol is pregnant. Jimmy confronts Fiona about coming with him to Michigan so he can complete medical school.
ORDER ROOM SERVICE
Fiona contemplates finding another job so she can move to Michigan with Jimmy, but the two get into an argument when she discovers that Jimmy had only rented a studio apartment; Fiona tells him to find another place to sleep. Carl lets Frank stay in the old family van. They bond over Frank's childhood story of theft, which inspires Carl to steal belongings from his former foster parents. The police arrive to arrest Carl, but Frank in an uncharacteristic gesture takes the blame and is arrested. Ian tries to convince Mickey to not marry Svetlana; Mickey and Ian share an intimate moment, but Mickey decides to go through with the wedding. Ian drinks excessively and reveals to Mandy about his relationship with Mickey. Lip visits Karen, who has been released from the hospital. Angry over witnessing Karen's deficiencies, Lip crashes Mickey's wedding and breaks up with Mandy. Fiona attends a camping trip with her boss, Mike, who she nearly has sex with. Jimmy gets a surprise visit from Nando, who informs him that Estefania is being deported by immigration. Jimmy, fearing for his life, is forced to board a yacht to an unknown location.
SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST
Frank wakes up in jail after being arrested, but he is sent to the hospital after fainting. Frank is told that he has liver failure and is advised to stop drinking; Frank ignores this advice and drinks with Lip to celebrate his high school graduation. After vomiting blood at a skating rink, Frank is sent back to the hospital. Fiona visits Frank and tries to convince him to stop drinking for either himself or his kids, but he refuses. Sheila says goodbye to Jody, Karen, and Hymie as they leave for Arizona. Fiona assumes that Jimmy is avoiding her, and becomes distraught over his whereabouts. She is confronted by Beto, who delivers her money that he claims is from Jimmy. Ian enlists in the Army (unbeknownst to his family) and visits Mickey one last time to tell him about his enlistment. The news leaves Mickey shocked and emotional; Mickey displays his love with one word, "Don't". Ian departs quietly the next morning with Lip's ID. The Gallaghers throw a graduation party for Lip. Fiona is promoted in her new job. Lip thanks Mandy for her help with getting into college. Frank sneaks out of the hospital and walks the streets alone.
SIMPLE PLEASURES
Fiona is three months into a corporate job, while semi-dating her boss, Mike. Debbie is starting to blossom, physically and emotionally, and she befriends an older pizza-delivering bachelor, Matt. Lip begins classes at Chicago Polytechnic, living on campus and working in the cafeteria. Feeling lonely, Sheila regularly visits the Gallagher house to babysit and clean. Frank is found by the police nearly unconscious in a drug house, and he is returned home to his family. Fiona refuses to let Frank stay, but relents when Carl insists. Upon learning that Matt is twenty years old, Debbie tells him that she's thirteen; Matt seems fine with Debbie's age and continues their friendship. After Stan, the owner of the Alibi, passes away, Kevin discovers that Stan had left the bar in his will, fulfilling his dream. However, Kevin finds out that the bar is in deep debt. Veronica turns out to be pregnant with triplets. Fiona refuses to be a donor for Frank, despite Carl's pleas. Frank tells Fiona that he will go to his older daughter, Samantha, for help.

Fiona has dinner with Mike's family and meets his self-proclaimed "life addict" brother, Robbie. Sheila begins experimenting with online dating. In an attempt to raise money for Frank, Carl steals various dogs around the neighborhood and holds them ransom. Lip continues to struggle in college and finds himself cracking under the pressure. A disheartened Mickey tries to mask his pain with alcohol and sex. Veronica and Kevin desperately try to make more money, in preparation for their four children. Frank meets his eldest daughter Sammi, who does not know of their relation; Frank discovers that he has a grandson, Chuckie. Frank makes a good impression on Sammi, but this leads to her wanting to pursue Frank romantically. Debbie is turned down when she tries to have sex with Matt. After another dinner, Fiona has sex with Robbie while Mike is passed out.
STRANGERS ON A TRAIN
Frank continues to bond with Sammi and discovers that a transplant costs $150,000; Carl successfully breaks Frank's leg in order to give Frank a large insurance payout. Mickey, angered by how little Svetlana is being paid, tells her and all the other prostitutes not to work until they are paid more by their employer. Mickey's efforts prove unsuccessful when the women are replaced within a matter of hours. Lip goes on a destructive rampage when he is denied the opportunity to take one of his midterms. He and Mandy briefly reignite their former flame, but it quickly ends in a fight. Fiona succumbs to Robbie's seductive nature, and the pair are almost caught by Mike. Sammi tells Frank that she isn't a viable donor, and an angry Frank accidentally reveals that he is her father. Sammi furiously throws him out, but she eventually reconciles with Frank, warming up to the idea of having a father. Lip returns to college and is granted a retest.
THERE'S THE RUB
At college, Lip is surprised by two military officers who claim that his identity has been stolen; they show him a photograph of Ian. Fiona ends things with Robbie. When Fiona visits Mike's family, Mike and Robbie get into an argument; Robbie reveals his tryst with Fiona, resulting in Mike punching Robbie in the face and breaking up with Fiona. Kevin and Mickey open a brothel in the apartment above the bar. Frank is told that the claim for his broken leg will take a year to process. Desperate for a cure to his liver disease, Frank gets Sheila's new boyfriend, Roger, to build a sweat lodge to rid his body of toxins. During the sweat lodge, Frank passes out. Lip and Debbie go searching for Ian. They track him down to a gay bar, but he isn't behaving normally and dodges all of their questions. Robbie surprises Fiona by turning up at her house with cocaine, but she chases him out. Fiona later throws a birthday party and snorts the cocaine; Liam consumes the remainder of the cocaine and is found unconscious in the kitchen.
IRON CITY
Liam's accidental cocaine ingestion lands Fiona in county jail, where she experiences the wrongs of her actions. After getting the prognosis on Liam's condition, Lip blames Fiona for her lack of responsibility and disregards Fiona's attempts to be a guardian again. Debbie runs off to Matt's apartment to find solace. Lip asks Mandy to find Ian and inform him of Liam's condition. After fainting in the sweat lodge, Frank gets sobering news from his doctor, who tells him he doesn't have much time left to live. Though Sammi expects the worst-case-scenario, Frank believes his time is not up yet and is too stubborn to die. Sheila says goodbye to Roger's family, who are leaving town for their reservation. Experiencing an empty nest, Sheila packs her bags and leaves to join their reservation. Fiona gets bailed out of jail by Mike, who doesn't ever want to see her again. Sammi meets her half-siblings as they visit a recovered Liam in the hospital.
A JAILBIRD, INVALID, MARTYR, CUTTER, RETARD, AND PARASITIC TWIN
Guardianship duties fall upon Lip, who attempts to make the house more presentable for the social worker's visit. He gets some unexpected assistance from his roommate's girlfriend, Amanda, who offers to babysit Liam during his classes. After being pressured by Mandy, Mickey searches for Ian and finds him at a gay bar, passed out from drugs. Mickey brings Ian back to the Milkovich home, to Svetlana's dismay. Debbie is once again rebuffed by Matt, who states that she's too young for him. Fiona sees her public defender, who reveals that she may serve some time if she pleads guilty. Fiona expresses interest in taking the case to trial, prompting a nasty argument with Lip over the incident with Liam. After the bar is robbed, Kevin gets a gun for protection. Veronica loses one of her triplets through fetal resorption. At the Gallagher home, Sammi gives Frank hard drugs for his pain, prompting Lip to kick her and Frank out. At her hearing, Fiona pleads guilty; she is given house arrest and is charged as a felon.
HOPE SPRINGS PATERNAL
In preparation for a visit from her probation officer, Fiona must remove all contraband from the house, putting her at odds with Debbie and Carl. Ian is kicked out of Mickey's house by Svetlana, who feels threatened by his presence. Ian returns to the Gallagher house, to Fiona's surprise; he reveals little of his time in the Army, but continually has "ideas" for future endeavors. Mickey and Ian rekindle their relationship. Svetlana gives birth. Sammi, Frank and Chuckie have moved into Sheila's house. Debbie finds solace in Sammi, who helps guide Debbie through her first period. Carol gives birth, but she wants to keep the baby. Though Kevin is disappointed, Veronica convinces him to agree. Lip finds that caring for Liam has its benefits. Robbie visits Fiona to apologize, but Fiona slams the door in his face. Lip comes home to find a drunken Fiona, resulting in him taking Liam to his dorm so she can figure things out.
THE LEGEND OF BONNIE AND CARL
Carl connects with a girl named Bonnie; they appear to have the same interests for recklessness and violence. After discovering that Matt is dating someone else, Debbie stalks his new girlfriend. Amanda tries to seduce Lip, which he tries to resist, as she is dating his roommate. Lip finds that Amanda brings structure to his life, but it comes at a cost. Sheila returns from the reservation, and she discovers Frank in dire health. Sheila reveals that Roger was abusive, and expresses interest in adopting his kids. Sammi brings Frank's wish of visiting the Alibi to him. Fiona searches for a job as part of her probation, but her prior actions continue to haunt her. Fiona angrily confronts Robbie. Mickey spends more time with Ian. Svetlana wants Mickey to help take care of their child, but Mickey refuses to do so. As a result, Svetlana extorts money from Mickey, threatening to tell Terry about Ian if Mickey does not comply. Mandy's boyfriend, Kenyatta, hunts down Lip after discovering he and Mandy had sex. Mickey later discovers Mandy having been beaten by Kenyatta.
LIVER, I HARDLY KNOW HER
Immediately following her confrontation with Robbie, Fiona spirals out of control and goes on a binge, partaking heavily in narcotics and alcohol. Waking up periodically, Fiona regains coherence in a gas station in Sheboygan, where the people she was riding with strand her there. The Gallaghers go into search mode to find her, applying the methods they use to find Frank when he disappears. Lip eventually finds Fiona and, seeing how broken she is, forgives her, apologizing for his harsh attitude towards her. Carl and Bonnie bond through theft. In order to increase her chances of adopting, Sheila marries Frank, who is in deteriorating health. Sammi and Sheila consult a sketchy doctor who agrees to perform Frank's liver transplant. During the illegal surgery, the doctor steals Frank's kidney instead. Mickey argues with Kevin over the money they're making on their joint venture. Veronica gives birth to twins. Ian and Mickey discover that Mandy is back with Kenyatta. Ian wants to take Mandy to a safe place, and the ensuing argument culminates in Ian holding a knife to Kenyatta's throat. At the hospital, Frank moves up the waiting list and is given a liver transplant.
EMILY
Fiona is taken to a correctional facility for a 90-day sentence. Frank wakes up from his transplant, suffering from post-operative delirium. He bonds with Emily, a young girl waiting for a new heart. Believing that Emily is a young Fiona, Frank is upset when Emily dies before her pending transplant. Sammi and Sheila clash while visiting Frank. A social worker visits the house, which is now under Lip's guardianship. The social worker is impressed with Lip's responsibility and aids him. As Lip and Amanda begin dating, Amanda insists that Lip have dinner with her parents, who she is trying to rebel against. After witnessing the Gallaghers' lifestyle, Amanda's parents bribe Lip to break up with her. Lip takes the money, but he and Amanda continue dating nonetheless. Debbie is the victim of a humiliating internet prank. Ian crashes Mickey's son's christening. At a post-party, Terry Milkovich shows up. Mickey announces his homosexuality to everyone. This causes a bar brawl between the Milkoviches, and Terry is arrested once more.
LAZARUS
Frank, recovered from his post-operative delirium, discovers that his transplant medication will produce a number of side effects, and that he still can't drink alcohol. Following a random drug test, Fiona is released from jail due to overcrowding and has a renewed probation. Fiona's probation officer secures her a job waiting tables at a diner. Carl finds out that Bonnie's family has disappeared. Sheila's petition to adopt the Native American children is denied. Svetlana and Mickey come to an understanding about their child and how to raise him. Mickey is worried when he finds Ian in a depressed state. Following an initiation at Amanda's sorority, Lip and Mandy run into each other at a restaurant. Fiona meets with Mickey and concludes that Ian may be bipolar. She suggests hospitalizing Ian, but Mickey disagrees, stating that he will care for Ian. Frank escapes the hospital with the help of Carl. The two stop at the edge of Lake Michigan and share a bottle of alcohol together. In a post-credits scene, a woman and her male companion pull up outside the Gallagher house. The passenger is revealed to be Jimmy using the alias 'Jack' who is very much alive.
MILK OF THE GODS
Lip returns home from college to find the neighborhood moving swiftly toward gentrification. Frank, still recovering from his liver transplant, is living with Sheila. He continues to ignore Sammi, who has begun acting out in order to get her father's attention. Sammi and Sheila clash. Fiona is engrossed in her job at the Patsy's Pie diner, and she has a friendly relationship with her new boss, Sean. Fiona flirts with Davis, a local band player. At the Milkovich house, Ian helps a pregnant Svetlana take care of baby Yevgeny, while Mickey and his brothers run a moving truck scam. Ian, hypersexual as a result of his condition, has a few anonymous sexual encounters. Veronica struggles with parental life; she is frustrated by her newborn babies, as well as Kevin's obsession with them. It is revealed that Frank is trying to produce his own beer, called Frank's Milk of the Gods.
I'M THE LIVER
Officially off house arrest, Fiona cuts off her ankle bracelet. Lip starts his new job, with taxing consequences. Sheila considers an offer from lesbian land developers who want to buy her home. Frank tries to talk her out of it and begins warning everyone of the neighborhood's impending development. The father of the boy whose liver Frank received invites Frank and Sheila to a special father's day dinner with all the other organ recipients; Sammi ends up crashing the dinner, further enraging Sheila. Ian, Mickey, and Mandy plan revenge against a homophobic military funeral protest. Kevin bonds with Svetlana. Debbie continues to struggle with friends and boys. Fiona develops feelings for Sean and confronts him about it. Sean reveals he has feelings for Fiona, but he cannot date her, believing Fiona to be a "chaos junkie."
THE TWO LISAS
Mandy makes plans to move to Indiana with her abusive boyfriend, Kenyatta; Ian wants Lip to help convince Mandy not to move. Lip and Mandy have sex, but Lip remains emotionally unavailable; Mandy leaves with Kenyatta the next day. Fiona agrees to go to a concert with Davis, but when his girlfriend shows up, Fiona makes a play for his bass player, Gus. Debbie throws a party at the Gallagher house and invites Matt. Debbie has sex with Matt while he is sleeping; she does not fully understand that her actions constitute as rape. In exchange for new brewery equipment, Frank sets the owner of a junkyard up with Sammi under the pretense that she'll sleep with him. An outraged Sammi initiates a fight with Frank and Sheila outside the house; Frank's beer still suddenly ignites and blows up Sheila's house. Sheila jumps in her newly purchased RV and flees town, finally fulfilling her dream of travelling the world.

Frank arrives at Lou's to pick up his six figure insurance settlement, but he is confounded when told he arrived the previous day. Realizing he has no recollection, Frank retraces his steps, uncovering a night of insanity. Lip visits Amanda and her family at their home in Miami; Amanda's father expresses interest in giving Lip a paid internship. Carl starts a new job as a drug dealer, but quickly realizes he's in over his head. Debbie attends boxing lessons and meets another boy, Derek. Ian goes overboard when he starts stealing suitcases from the airport baggage claim. Veronica feels guilty when she experiences an orgasm while grinding with another man at a dance club; she realizes how much she misses Kevin's attention. Fiona and Gus continue to hit it off, and the two wind up getting married on a whim.
RITE OF PASSAGE
Homeless and penniless once again, Frank takes advantage of his liver donor's parents. Sammi's trailer is impounded; Sammi believes that Frank will buy her a new trailer. When Sammi discovers that Frank is bluffing, she chases Frank and tries to stab him. Debbie uses her new boxing skills to beat up Holly and Ellie. Carl continues to flounder at his drug dealing business. Fiona wrestles over her hasty decision to marry Gus, and her concerns are further compounded when a colleague overdoses on heroin. Fiona reveals her marriage to Lip. Kevin and Veronica continue to experience relationship issues. Ian's promiscuity and recklessness drives Mickey to the brink, and he demands Ian enter a mental rehabilitation facility. Upon hearing this, Ian flees Mickey's house, with Yevgeny in tow. At Patsy's, Fiona finds Jimmy sitting at one of her tables.
CRAZY LOVE
Jimmy reveals to Fiona that he was forced into slave labor in South America, but ultimately escaped. Jimmy tells Fiona that he's still in love with her, and Fiona reveals her marriage. The two end up having sex, putting Fiona into an emotional crisis over Gus and Jimmy. Sammi takes charge in the Gallagher household. Frank's recent escapades catch up with him, and he is hospitalized for mistreating his liver. Lip reestablishes himself at college. Kevin and Veronica decide to split up. Ian is on the run with Mickey and Svetlana's baby, but he quickly spirals out of control and lands in the hands of the police. At the police station, Mickey convinces Ian to admit himself at the psychological evaluation ward.
TELL ME YOU FUCKING NEED ME
At the psych ward, Ian shuns Fiona and Mickey when they visit. Mickey turns to alcohol to dull his longing for Ian. Jimmy prepares to depart for Dubai, and he presses Fiona for a decision. Lip is met with financial aid difficulties. Carl takes Chuckie under his wing. Frank returns from the hospital and asserts himself at the Gallagher home, to Sammi's dismay. Reaching a boiling point, Sammi shoots Frank in the arm in order to prove that he loves her. Debbie and Derek begin dating. Veronica moves into the Alibi, while Svetlana moves in with a newly separated Kevin. After Fiona discloses her infidelity to Gus, he punches Jimmy upon meeting him. Jimmy tells Fiona that he has called off the trip to Dubai, and that he only wants a life with her, but after deliberation, Fiona tells Jimmy that he needs to let her let him go.
UNCLE CARL
Ian is released from the ward. Frank humors Sammi while scheming for a way to be rid of her. Short on funds, Lip convinces Kevin to revisit their marijuana-selling days. After a heartfelt plea, Lip is able to bide time concerning his financial woes at school. Veronica and Svetlana bond. Kevin sleeps with a sorority girl from Lip's college. Ian flushes his lithium pills down the toilet. Debbie confronts Mickey about his alcoholic denial. Mickey reunites with Ian. Fiona realizes that she wants to fight for Gus, but he's not ready to commit or forgive; he leaves on an extended tour with his band. Carl is tasked by his boss to transport heroin to Michigan; in an attempt to get rid of Sammi, Frank convinces Carl to use Chuckie as a mule, then secretly calls the cops on Chuckie. The plan is successful, and Chuckie lands in jail. Soon after, an enraged Sammi calls the cops and Carl is also arrested.
CARL'S FIRST SENTENCING
At college, Lip meets a foxy new professor, Helene, and their relationship quickly intensifies; Lip discovers that Helene is in an open relationship with her husband. Kevin finds a new calling at Lip's school, though it ultimately leads him to wanting Veronica back. Despite effort from Fiona, Carl botches his sentencing hearing, and he is sent to a juvenile correctional facility with Chuckie. Mickey is able to convince Ian to get back on his meds. Ian gets a job as a dishwasher at Patsy's. Fiona consoles Sean when he receives news that his ex-wife is moving out of town with his son, Will. Due to his probation, Sean is unable to move with Will. While undergoing treatment at the hospital, Frank's doctor, Bianca, reveals she has terminal cancer. The two bond over a grand adventure that spans 48 hours.

Debbie and Derek agree to consummate their relationship, and Debbie goes on birth control. Lip turns Helene for an assist, and she dishes out some harsh truth. Lip ultimately kicks Kevin out of the dorm; Kevin returns to Veronica. After an emotional day with Sean, Fiona drifts further away from Gus. Ian and Mickey have a romp over their differences, before making love at an old rendezvous. Ian is arrested for going AWOL and destroying federal property, while Sammi is on the outs with the rest of her siblings. Ian lands a trainee EMT job, but he is fired after his first day for lying about being bipolar. Kevin and Veronica begin a polyamorous relationship with Svetlana. Lip's college education continues to go downhill as he resorts back to alcohol. When Youens fires Lip from his TA position, Lip angrily smashes Youens' car with a crowbar and is arrested. Lip is bailed out of prison by Youens, who urges him to seek AA treatment. Fiona and Lip get into a fight over her job at Patsy's; Lip believes that Fiona's manager position will not help the family in the long run. Veronica disapproves of Fiona's behavior, causing a drift in their relationship. Lip learns his new job is pursuing illegal business practices. Debbie attempts to get a job at the Alibi. Instead, she is given "advice" from Svetlana, who encourages Debbie to find a new love interest and advertise herself. Ian meets a new love interest named Trevor, who he then finds out is transgender. Kevin, Veronica, and Svetlana fight over whether it is safe to leave their children with Yvon. Ian becomes confused when he and Trevor kiss; Ian admits to Kevin that he finds Trevor attractive, but is unsure if he wants to begin a relationship with Trevor. Following Frank's protest, a billionaire purchases the house and declares it public housing. Debbie gets the attention of Child Services when she is caught, on video, fighting with a woman while carrying Franny. The business model of Lip's new job inspires him to create his own profit. Kevin, Veronica, and Svetlana contemplate on adopting each of their children. Carl is rejected from military school, as the remaining spots are being reserved for people of color. THE DEFENESTRATION OF FRANK
Fiona decides to fully invest in the local laundromat and talks with the senile owner, Etta. Lip gambles with his wire-fraud scheme and questions the state of his fling with Sierra; Lip wants to ensure that their relationship is merely casual. At the homeless shelter, Frank begins pocketing money for himself. When his new family finds out, they angrily throw Frank out the window. Ian and Trevor want to pursue a sexual relationship, but discover that both of them are "tops." In order to provide Franny with a home life, Debbie moves in with Sierra's handicapped brother, Neil, and pursues a relationship with him. Though Sierra and Lip disapprove of the relationship, Debbie announces her plans to marry Neil. Kevin and Veronica discover that Yvon is actually Svetlana's husband. Carl breaks up with Dominique and receives a scholarship for military school. Though he is initially hesitant, Carl decides to attend the school after some encouragement from family members.
YOU'LL NEVER EVER GET A CHICKEN IN YOUR WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE
Expecting a visit from DCFS, Debbie creates a list of things to do for the day, including marrying Neil, attending a parenting class, and quitting high school. Following the home inspection, Debbie and Neil engage in a rendezvous. Sierra leaves her son, Lucas, to spend the day with his father, Charlie; Lip helps Sierra find Lucas when Charlie abandons him. Lip receives news from Youens, who informs him that the local university granted his request to appeal his case. Ian and Trevor begin a sexual relationship. Fiona initially has second thoughts over her investment into the local laundromat; the laundromat is in bad shape, and Etta is displaying signs of dementia. Despite Margo's disapproval, Fiona ultimately works towards revitalizing the laundromat. Kevin becomes distraught over placing trust in Svetlana due to her questionable actions, such as making fake passports, stealing the van and letting people rent out the Alibi's apartment. Out of money, Fiona decides to revamp the laundromat herself, with the help of Frank and Kevin. Fiona gives Kevin advice over his issues with Svetlana, and also lets Frank move into the laundromat with Etta. Ian officially gets together with Trevor. Lip and Sierra's relationship grows. Lip attends his appeal hearing at the university, where Ian and Professor Youens make heartfelt appeals to the school board. The board believes Lip has a bright future, but they ultimately reject his plea over his case. Lip gets drunk and gets into an altercation with Charlie; Sierra breaks up with Lip, stating that she doesn't want Lucas to deal with another addict. Debbie believes Derek's family were the individuals who called DCFS, and she attempts to get into good graces with the family. Later, Debbie leaves Franny with Neil; Derek's family then kidnap Franny.
OUROBOROS
Monica makes a return and proclaims she has changed, leaving the family skeptical once again. Monica later reveals to Frank that she has brain damage and is dying. Monica helps Debbie get Franny back from Derek's family; a grateful Debbie lets Monica stay in Neil's apartment. The re-opening of the local laundromat commences; Fiona is distraught when a negative review of the new laundromat appears online. Lip's alcoholism returns and sets him off on a new downward spiral, as he is a no-show for a job interview set up by Professor Youens. Frank continues to keep Etta company. Kevin, Veronica, and Svetlana go to couples' therapy; Kevin and Veronica learn that Svetlana has changed the Alibi's business format and somehow now owns a part of the bar. Ian and Trevor engage in an argument over Trevor's ID after attempting to enter a bar. The Gallaghers are greeted by a detective, who informs Ian that Mickey has escaped from prison.

Upon Mickey's escape, Ian is conflicted over his feelings towards Trevor in their relationship. Fiona is offered $160,000 from Margo to buy the local laundromat from her; Fiona contemplates the offer, as she had promised Etta that she can stay in the laundromat. Veronica is left heartbroken by Svetlana's betrayal; Kevin attempts again to fix the threes' relationship, and finds out that Svetlana had forged the ownership papers as adoption papers. Kevin is persuaded by Fiona to consult a lawyer on getting the bar back. Fiona and Veronica reconcile. Lip continues his downward spiral and finds himself breaking into Helene's house; Helene begs Lip to seek help, and Lip breaks down. In an attempt to make more money, Frank and Monica rob a bus of senior citizens. Ian gets kidnapped by a group of men who take him to a football field; Mickey, sporting a new look, arrives and reunites with Ian. Mickey implores Ian to escape with him to Mexico; Ian agrees to accompany Mickey.
HAPPILY EVER AFTER
While driving to the Mexican border, Ian and Mickey discuss their feelings, and Mickey asks Ian why he never visited him in prison. Upon arriving at the border, Ian changes his mind and proclaims he is a changed man. He says goodbye to Mickey, leaving him a substantial amount of money from his savings account. Mickey accepts Ian's decision and they share a kiss, before Mickey successfully crosses the border with a disguise. Fiona officially sells the laundromat. Fiona finds herself with another business opportunity when Chad introduces her to a real estate agent. As a result of the laundromat's closure, Fiona reluctantly sends Etta to an assisted living facility. Lip attempts to get his sobriety under control and befriends fellow AA member Brad. Now without the Alibi, Kevin and Veronica search for new jobs; Kevin finds a job at a gay bar. Frank and Monica attempt to renew their vows. The following morning, Frank discovers that Monica has passed away in her sleep.
REQUIEM FOR A SLUT
The Gallagher family arrange a funeral for Monica while expressing their indifference towards her. Fiona meets with her estranged grandfather, who pays for the funeral. Frank finds out Monica had left a unique inheritance of $70,000 in the form of methamphetamine; Frank gives each family member a portion of the meth. Ian confesses his encounter with Mickey to Trevor, and they both question the future of their relationship. Fiona and Frank get into an intense argument over Monica; Fiona denounces Monica for abandoning the family, stating: "She didn't give a shit about anyone but herself." At Monica's funeral, Fiona buries her share of the meth in Monica's coffin. Following the funeral, the Gallaghers throw a party; Fiona forgives Frank and shares a dance with him. Lip tries to get his drinking problem under control while also trying to win back Sierra, who has gotten back together with Charlie. Brad advises Lip to not pursue Sierra just yet. Debbie gets a new job and begins attending night school. Ian tries to win back Trevor by helping teens at the youth center. Carl begins selling the inherited meth that Monica left him and his siblings before she died. Liam is used by the faculty of his school to show off the school's diversity for prospective parents. Veronica tries to take back the Alibi from Svetlana by leading an ICE raid on the bar, in which Svetlana is detained. Kevin goes to an oncologist after finding a lump on his chest.

At her apartment building, Fiona deals with unpaid rent from a number of unruly tenants; Fiona ultimately gives a particular tenant an eviction notice. Frank finds a job for the first time and tries to be a respectable citizen. As Sierra's relationship with Charlie continues to build, Lip attempts to sabotage the relationship by tempting Charlie with a pizza topped with a baggie of coke. Charlie does not take the drugs, and instead decides to attend an AA meeting. Debbie begins to neglect Neil, who notices a hickey on her neck. Ian goes with Trevor to a chub bar in an effort to fix their relationship. Ian unexpectedly has a breakdown over Monica's death. Liam visits a rich friend's house and is astonished by the luxury that others have. Kevin attends a cancer support group before discovering his tumor is benign. After selling Ian's portion of Monica's meth, Carl is hunted down by Monica's drug-dealing ex-boyfriend, Eric, who owned some of the meth.

The Gallaghers deal with Eric, who threatens the family if he doesn't receive the drugs or $70,000 within 24 hours. Unable to raise enough money, the Gallaghers decide to dig up Monica's body to retrieve the meth, which Fiona had stored in her coffin. Frank, now going by Francis, remains committed to becoming a better person. Following his cancer scare, Kevin becomes obsessed with being healthy and, upon researching his genetics, finds out that he comes from an inbred community in Kentucky. Kevin decides to reconnect with his family. Fiona's evicted tenant destroys her room. Fiona attempts to find a new renter, but ends up coming into conflict with Nessa's girlfriend, Mel, who scares away potential tenants. Neil breaks up with Debbie for another woman. Svetlana tries to sell the Alibi, forcing Veronica to visit her in prison and make a deal; Svetlana is ultimately released with partial-ownership of the bar. Lip pays Professor Youens back for rehab; Youens uses the money for alcohol. While driving under the influence, Youens crashes into an old woman's home, landing him in jail on a DUI charge.
FUCK PAYING IT FORWARD
Now reformed, Frank is helping as much as he can at home, and decides to be more fatherly towards Liam. Frank joins the PTA at Liam's school and grabs the attention of the other moms. Another black child join Liam's school. Brad advises Lip to pursue a no-strings relationship; Lip experiments with online dating, and later has sex with his female co-worker, Eddie. Debbie moves back into the Gallagher home. Franny takes her first steps. Ian lets a shelter girl of Trevor's sleep at the Gallagher house to help her out of a bad spot. Trevor confronts Ian, finding his actions inappropriate; Ian promises to find a living situation for the shelter kids. Carl attempts to catch a junkie breaking into houses on the block, after learning the thief stole a disabled veteran's medals. Kevin and Veronica meet Kevin's biological family; Kevin is overwrought with emotion, whereas Veronica fears his family is racist. Fiona is furious when Sean, now clean and married, returns. Fiona initially believes Sean wants to get back together. When Sean reveals that he is married and merely wants to make amends, Fiona throws him out.
THE (MIS)EDUCATION OF LIAM FERGUS BEIRCHEART GALLAGHER
Wanting to raise the profile of the neighborhood, Fiona plans to convert an abandoned church into an art gallery, unaware that Ian and Trevor are raising money to convert the same property into a youth shelter. The battle over the property causes a fallout between Fiona and Ian. Carl loses his military school scholarship, and looks for ways to raise money himself to pay for the next semester. Carl has also locked up the junkie thief in the Gallagher basement for detoxing. Exhausted from the stress of parenting his newborn baby, Brad relapses; Brad informs Lip to find another sponsor. Frank teaches parents in Liam's school about the working class, inadvertently arousing a couple of the moms. Kevin, Veronica and Svetlana disagree over how to split the bar's earnings. In an attempt to get half of the earnings, Svetlana seduces Veronica. Debbie discovers that Derek has returned, and is now spending time with Franny. Enraged by Derek's return, Debbie and her friend, Duran, go on a drug-fuelled road trip.
ICARUS FELL AND RUSTY ATE HIM
During their road trip, Debbie has unprotected sex with Duran. Unable to buy a morning-after pill because she is underage, Debbie asks another woman to buy the pill for her. When the woman tries to run off with the money, Debbie assaults her, resulting in Debbie's arrest. After she discovers one of her tenants dead, Fiona reflects on her own life, and decides to take in tenants' dog. Fiona and Ian are unable to compromise. Following the success of the junkie's detox, Carl begins a rehab business in the Gallagher basement. Kevin, Veronica and Svetlana have reinstated their sexual relationship. Kevin ponders his sexuality, while Veronica ponders over why she can't resist Svetlana's advances; Veronica realizes she likes to be sexually dominated. Brad is kicked out by his wife, Cami, until he can become sober. When Brad goes missing, Lip, Eddie, and Youens attempt to relocate him. Frank enjoys having his first-ever credit card, only to later learn his store is being closed by corporate.
OCCUPY FIONA
Ian tests Fiona's patience by organizing the shelter kids and beginning an "Occupy Fiona" movement next to her apartment building. Fiona gives Ian and Trevor another potential location for a shelter, but Ian remains uninterested. Worried that Ian is growing impulsive, Trevor signs the lease for the other location. Fiona meets Ford, an Irish carpenter hired by Nessa. Frank goes on a job hunt but his interviews are unsuccessful. After speaking with an illegal immigrant, Frank is inspired to begin an import-export business through the Ug-Canada border. Carl gets close to Kassidi, one of his rehab clients, who suggests he pretend to hold her ransom, in order to raise enough money for military school. Kevin learns how to sexually dominate Veronica. With the support of Brad, Lip tries to help Youens for his DUI trial his fifth drunk driving conviction. The trial quickly falls awry when it is obvious that Youens is under the influence, resulting in Youens getting sentenced to prison.
FRANK'S NORTHERN SOUTHERN EXPRESS
Fiona considers moving into one of her apartments, while she tries to get closer to Ford. Ford rebuffs her, believing that Fiona is "complicated." Nessa and Mel throw a party to celebrate both of their pregnancies; Fiona discovers that Ford had voluntarily fathered both of their babies. Frank begins his import-export business. Lip interviews new AA sponsors. Charlie reveals to Lip that, while he and Sierra were separated, he knocked up another girl; Lip insists that Charlie amend the situation and tell Sierra about the secret baby. Meanwhile, Sierra reveals that her murderous father is up for parole. At the new youth center, Ian and Trevor meet a suicidal teen who has been forced to a visit a gay conversion church; Ian visits the church and confronts the pastor. Carl and Kassidi continue a relationship. Kevin starts showing his dominating tricks against Svetlana at work, which pleases Veronica. While trying to find a new job, Debbie also thinks she may be pregnant again.
THE FUGEES
Ian's run-in with the homophobic minister goes viral on the internet, grabbing the attention of local religious leaders, who support Ian's message. Frank's business takes a turn for the worse when he is arrested by a group of mounties; Frank manages to escape when their car crashes, leaving the mounties unconscious. Fiona tries and fails to fit in with Ford's group of friends. Fiona and Ford share a kiss. Rodney, a construction worker hired by Fiona, falls off the roof of the apartment building. Svetlana receives a visit from her former friend, Freelania, who reveals that she is getting married. Upset over Freelania's visit, Svetlana reveals to Kevin and Veronica how bad she feels about her current miserable life. Needing money to pay for her welding class, Debbie uses a drug dog to steal drugs from the cars of local dealers. Sierra finds out about Charlie's secret baby and angrily leaves him. Lip tells Sierra to take Charlie back, but the two end up having sex instead. Kassidi, suffering from separation anxiety, attempts to prevent Carl from attending military school. When Carl buys Kassidi a promise ring, she mistakes it for an engagement ring.
CHURCH OF GAY JESUS
Ian tries to get a handle on his newfound fame and attention from his followers, while Frank finds a way to cash in on Ian's success, selling Church of Gay Jesus merchandise to the public. Fiona and Ford begin a sexual relationship. Fiona finds out that Rodney's family is now homeless; Fiona shows remorse by letting them stay in a vacant apartment. Later, Nessa informs Fiona that Rodney's family is suing Fiona for $6 million. Feeling bad for Svetlana, Kevin and Veronica decide to help Svetlana find a sugar daddy. Lip tries to visit Youens in prison, but is shocked to discover that Youens had recently died of a seizure. Grappling over Youen's death, Lip attends the memorial service, but is disheartened to learn he was not the only student to have had a close relationship with Youens; Lip crumples his eulogy and abruptly leaves the ceremony. Lip comforts Youen's daughter. Debbie gets a welding gig and is injured when a pipe falls on her toe. Kassidi fakes a suicide hanging to pressure Carl into an impromptu wedding; Carl reluctantly agrees to get married.
A GALLAGHER PEDICURE
Following the lawsuit, Rodney's family barricade themselves inside the apartment and change the locks, enraging Fiona. When the family refuses to negotiate, Fiona tries to annoy the squatters into leaving. Sierra is terrified when her father gets released from jail; Sierra believes her father intends to kill her and Neil, as they had testified against him. Lip manipulates a fight with Sierra's father and reports the "assault" to the police, causing Sierra's father to get sent back to prison. Following her injury, Debbie decides to amputate her toes, as she cannot pay for surgery. When Debbie cannot bring herself to do it, Frank ends up cutting the three crushed toes for her. Unable to get a sugar daddy, Svetlana meets Freelania's elderly sugar daddy, who mistakes Svetlana for his fianc . Svetlana later kidnaps Freelania. Despite warnings from Trevor, Ian provides sanctuary to a runaway teen, Blake, who claims his father is trying to harm him for being gay. A confrontation between Ian and Blake's father ends with Ian and his assistant exploding the father's vehicle.
SLEEPWALKING
Trevor informs Fiona that there is a warrant for Ian's arrest. Fiona questions Ford about their relationship; Ford admits that he's happy. With the help of Ford, Fiona negotiates a final offer with Rodney's family and gets them to drop the lawsuit. Frank enrolls Liam in planning a burglary at his rich friend's house. Liam initially participates, but suddenly abandons Frank in the middle of the heist. Derek reveals to Debbie that he wants joint custody of Franny. Kassidi attempts to keep Carl from military school by handcuffing him in his room. While Kassidi is sleeping, Liam unlocks Carl's handcuffs; Carl is able to escape and board the bus for military school. Kevin and Veronica help Svetlana go through with her scheme posing as Freelania at the wedding. Kevin walks Svetlana down the aisle at the wedding, which is ultimately successful. Sierra finds comfort in Lip after an argument with Charlie. However, Lip urges Sierra to give Charlie a second chance; Sierra angrily walks out on Lip. Eddie runs away and abandons her niece, Xan, at the bike shop. Lip invites Xan into the Gallagher home. During a protest, Ian is arrested by the police; the Gallagher family discover Ian's arrest via television.
ARE YOU THERE SHIM? IT'S ME, IAN
Ian continues his Gay Jesus antics in prison, becoming a leader for the gay inmates. In an attempt to raise money for Ian's bail, Fiona gets the apartment building appraised. Ford disapproves of Fiona's decision, as he believes Ian is too impulsive. Fiona grows concerned when she finds out Ford has a second phone; Ford claims it's an international phone used to call his mom. Most of the parents at Liam's school, Hopkins Academy, test positive for STDs; it is revealed that Frank had extramarital affairs with all the infected women. Debbie fights for equal pay at work after finding out she is being paid less. Xan is still living at the Gallagher house. Lip attends Brad and Cami's wedding, where he has sex with Cami's sister, Tami. A couple days later, Lip shows up at Tami's salon to ask her out; Tami shuts him down. Kevin and Veronica have trouble getting the twins to sleep. Carl wants to get rid of Kassidi, who has set up camp outside the military school. Carl later finds out that a fellow cadet, wanting to help Carl, had killed Kassidi and buried her body.
MO WHITE!
Kevin and Veronica are trying to find a preschool for the twins. They come across an affordable Catholic preschool, but the school only has one slot left; Kevin and Veronica get Gemma and Amy to pretend to be one girl. Liam gets kicked out of Hopkins Academy because of the STD incident with Frank. Fiona takes Liam to help look for investment opportunities and meets skeezy investor Max Whitford. Against Ford's advice, Fiona makes a $100,000 investment with Max into an upcoming retirement home. Frank makes money by field working in local political campaigns. When the campaigns fire Frank for more diversity hires, Frank gets the white patrons at the Alibi to nominate Mo White, a Republican representative, for the political race. Carl thinks of going to West Point, but learns he has to do a lot more to have any chance of admission. Debbie continues to protest for women rights. Xan steals a woman's wallet, wanting to give the money to her mom. At Brad's advice, Lip decides to sponsor Jason, a new AA member. Ian is released from jail after his Gay Jesus followers pay for his bail.
WEIRDO GALLAGHER VORTEX
Following his release, Ian searches for religious inspiration. Liam begins attending a new public school and makes a deal with another student for protection against Sissy, a bully. Carl wants to get a recommendation to West Point from a local congressman. Veronica discovers that she used to be the congressman's dominatrix, and she successfully gets the congressman to write the recommendation. Kevin works to make the guys at the Alibi more respectful towards women. Frank continues to campaign for Mo White, but discovers that Mo was a former sex offender. Fiona and Ford disagree over Fiona's investment into the retirement home. When Xan breaks her arm, Lip is unable to release her from the hospital, as he is not her legal guardian; Lip is able to leave with Xan by pulling the plug on another patient, creating a distraction. Debbie befriends Alex, one of her female co-workers. Debbie and Alex later share a kiss.
DO RIGHT, VOTE WHITE!
It s Election Day and everyone has a different view of whom to vote for. Fiona initially plans to vote for Ruiz, because he is against rent control; Ford convinces her to vote for another candidate. Frank and Mo gain last minute voters, resulting in Mo winning the election. Debbie and Alex briefly move in together, but Alex believes Debbie to be straight. Gay Jesus builds an international following, and Ian struggles to find his role in it. Ian's followers want him to take his case to trial, in order to publicize the Gay Jesus movement; however, Ian could potentially face up to ten years in prison in doing so. Liam learns his school wants to move him up a couple of grades next year. Carl is challenged to a duel for his West Point recommendation letter and worries he s gone soft because of his volunteer work. Kevin and Veronica embrace the clientele change at the bar. Xan s mother, Mercy, comes back; Lip offers Mercy $10,000 for her to sign away her parental rights and grant him custody. Xan sees Mercy and embraces her; Lip gives Mercy the money and leaves the two, realizing Xan would rather live with her mother.
BLACK-HAIRED GINGER
Carl attends a West Point luncheon where he meets Kelly, who mistakenly believes he took advantage of her when she passed out from drinking. Debbie tries to make amends with Alex. Questioning her sexuality, Debbie seeks advice from Nessa and Mel. Lip gets an unexpected day off and struggles to maintain his sobriety. Sissy makes a move on Liam, then tries to convince him he got her pregnant. Kevin is asked to speak at a women s convention and becomes more aware of the dangers of being female. Frank s new anti-rejection drug has a negative side effect on his sex drive. Fiona and Ford fight, then make up. Ian struggles to decide how to plead at court; Fiona tries to convince him to plead not guilty by reason of insanity. Ian dyes his hair black and initially plans to run away, but he ultimately returns home. At his court appearance, Ian takes Fiona's advice and pleads insanity.
FACE IT, YOU'RE GORGEOUS
Kevin and Veronica consider their lifestyle choices when their daughter brings a dildo to show and tell. Lip spends the day as a sober coach for Jen Wagner, a famous celebrity. Frank searches for a new Monica and meets Ingrid Jones, a psych ward patient. Frank follows Ingrid to her house and flirts with her. Max informs Fiona that the retirement home investment needs an influx of $25,000. When she isn't able to take back the initial $100,000 investment, Fiona decides against moving in with Ford, causing an argument. Later, unable to find Ford, Fiona tracks his phone to an unknown house; Fiona visits the house and discovers that Ford has a secret wife and kid. Drunk and furious, Fiona ends their relationship and crashes her car into a nearby vehicle. Ian, sentenced to two years in prison, has an emotional goodbye with his siblings. Upon arriving at the prison, Ian finds out that his cellmate is Mickey; the reunited lovers share a kiss.
DOWN LIKE THE TITANIC
Following the revelation of Ford's secret wife and kid, Fiona goes on a downward spiral, indulging in alcohol binges. In debt, Fiona puts the apartment building up for sale. When Max discovers this, he offers to buy the apartment building for the $25K, maintaining her credit. Fiona accepts the offer and moves back into the Gallagher home, much to her dismay. Ian leaves a gift to his family to remember him by. Frank and Ingrid pursue a sexual relationship, while Ingrid's ex-husband, Randy, tries to get Ingrid back on her meds. Frank convinces Randy to take a vacation. Liam finds a summer job. Carl studies for West Point with Kelly and Liam. Kevin and Veronica have a discussion over having another child; Veronica reveals that she is open to adopting. Lip attends Brad and Cami s christening and reunites with Tami; the two reconcile and have sex. Debbie and some of her fellow welders decide to teach Ford a lesson. They force Ford to publicly stand on a sign with his pants down, pleasing Fiona.
THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE ALIBI
Fiona continues her downward spiral, vandalizing the site of the upcoming retirement home and continuing to indulge in alcohol. With Fiona's absence, Debbie steps in to pick up the slack at the Gallagher house, managing the family's finances and restarting the Squirrel Fund. Max has announced plans to demolish the apartment building. Tami shows Lip a different version of adulthood, checking out apartments for the both of them. Tami visits the Gallaghers and learns of Lip's family situation. Kevin and Veronica adopt a 12-year-old boy named Santiago, who does not speak English. Kevin and Veronica learn that Santiago got separated from his family while seeking asylum at the border. Ingrid tells Frank that she wants to have children; Frank agrees. When Frank discovers that he has a low sperm count, Frank tricks Carl into giving him a sample of his sperm; Frank then uses Carl's sperm to impregnate Ingrid.

Debbie truly takes her new role as head of the Gallagher house by the reins, demanding each family member pay their equal share, rationing each of the utilities, and changing the locks when each sibling doesn t meet their requirements. Forced to contribute to the Squirrel Fund, Liam begins raising money with the help of Santiago. Veronica and Kevin, determined to reunite Santiago with his family, travel to Indiana to find Santiago s poor uncle. In the process, they accidentally outs Santiago's uncle to the police. Fiona's anger issues cause problems at Patsy's, and she begins taking boxing lessons to let out her anger. Carl meets Kelly's father, who does not approve of their relationship. Carl decides he can t keep seeing Kelly in good faith, so as not to keep her from achieving her dreams. Ingrid learns that she is pregnant with septuplets, and Frank searches for ways to finance Ingrid's vision for their future together. Lip is forced to confront his real feelings for Tami when he meets Tami's ex-boyfriend, Boone. Jealous of Boone, Lip hooks up with Tami's sister, but quickly confesses his mistake to Tami. The incident unexpectedly brings Lip and Tami closer.
LOS DIABLOS!
In an effort to support Ingrid, Frank competes in the Hobo Loco competition, hoping to become the Hobo Loco liquor spokesperson. Frank bonds with his fellow competitor, Mikey. At Patsy's, Fiona has a dark encounter with three men breaking in. The break-in scares Fiona into turning her life around; she throws away her alcohol and returns to work with a new attitude. However, it is too late; Margo shows up at Patsy's to fire Fiona. Kevin and Veronica say goodbye to Santiago, who is moving to Guatemala with his sister. Debbie throws herself into home improvements as she gets closer with Kelly. Carl gets a job as a sign spinner for a local restaurant. Lip and Tami spend the day together. Xan, having been abandoned by Mercy, returns to the Gallagher house and reunites with Lip. Liam opens a lemonade stand, but a racist neighbor calls the cops on him. When Fiona discovers this, she rallies the neighborhood and drunkenly punches the racist neighbor, resulting in Fiona getting arrested.
THE HOBO GAMES
The finals of the Hobo Games have arrived, and Frank faces off Mikey in the competition. Ingrid begins to have doubts about Frank's capabilities, and ultimately leaves Frank for Randy, informing Frank that she plans to reduce the embryos. Fiona has been charged with assault for punching the neighbor. Carl grows concerned when Debbie develops a crush on Kelly. Veronica wants Kevin to get a vasectomy. Kevin does not go through with the vasectomy operation, but he later lies to Veronica, claiming that he did. Tami reveals her pregnancy to Lip. Lip prepares to officially adopt Xan, but his plans collide with DCFS makes an unexpected visit; a drunken Fiona answers the door. Noticing Fiona's drunken state, the DCFS inspector ultimately concludes the Gallagher home an unsuitable environment for Xan, ruining Lip's plans to foster her. Fiona shows up at Brad's shop to apologize to Lip, and ends up running into Jason, who is celebrating 100 days of sobriety. Fiona drinks vodka in front of Jason, causing him to relapse. Lip blames Fiona for Jason's relapse and angrily kicks her out of the house.
YOU'LL KNOW THE BOTTOM WHEN YOU HIT IT
After kicking out Fiona, Lip throws Fiona's personal belongings out of the Gallagher house. Veronica initially invites Fiona to stay at her house, but Lip advises Veronica against doing so, believing Fiona will only get better if she hits rock bottom. Carl grows suspicious of Debbie's attempts to get closer with Kelly. Kelly is appalled that Carl believes she'd be attracted to Debbie; she breaks up with Carl. Lip says goodbye to Xan. Kevin has his vasectomy. Lip confronts Tami about her pregnancy; Tami reveals that she is contemplating keeping the baby. When a blackout unexpectedly hits the South Side, Kevin and Veronica come up with an impromptu cookout to bring the neighborhood together. Fiona and Frank team up to take advantage of the blackout, selling supplies to their South Side neighbors in order to get money for alcohol. Unable to stay with Veronica, Fiona sleeps in her old apartment building with Frank. The next morning, Fiona breaks down, realizing that she has hit rock bottom. Coming to the realization that she is turning into Frank, Fiona decides to attend the AA meetings with Lip.
LOST
Fiona's former apartment building is demolished; Frank, still squatting in the vacant apartment, severely injures his leg. Frank arrives at the hospital for his leg injury, but the doctors are reluctant to treat Frank, as he has over $85,000 in unpaid bills. Fiona attempts to get her life back on track while also dealing with her assault charges. Hoping to get the charges reduced to a misdemeanor, Fiona has to prove she is employed; she gets a small job at a gas station. Fiona reconciles with Eliza, the assistant manager at Patsy's. Lip grows frustrated with his relationship with Tami. Kevin and Veronica get in trouble at the twins' preschool, who have finally caught on to their scam with Gemma and Amy. The family learns that Liam, feeling neglected by his siblings, has been sleeping at a friend's house. Carl gets rejected by West Point. Upset over the news, Carl viciously attacks a robber at the seafood restaurant. Despite breaking up with Carl, Kelly continues to spend time with Debbie in the Gallagher house. Debbie finally makes a move on Kelly by kissing her. Shocked, Kelly tells Debbie she is not lesbian, but she wants to remain friends. At the gas station, Fiona reunites with Max, who offers to buy her out of her $100,000 investment.
FOUND
Having gotten the money from Max, Fiona quits her job at the gas station and resolves to truly start her own life. Fiona's assault charges are reduced to a misdemeanor; Fiona's lawyer encourages her to leave the South Side. Frank is recovering from his leg injury and will be on bed rest for months; the children hire a nurse to handle him. Carl decides to quit school, to Debbie's chagrin. Kelly gets Carl to quit his job and return to school. Kevin gets his charisma back and decides to make a business out of his religious persona. Debbie finds Liam has given her a list of demands to meet for him to come back home. Lip and Tami come to blows on her decision for their baby and soon reach an understanding. Lip confides in Kevin, who believes that Lip will be a great father. Fiona ultimately wants a fresh start at life, and announces her plans to leave Chicago. She visits Ian in jail; Ian is supportive of her decision to leave. Frank thanks Fiona for taking care of the kids after Monica's departure. Lip plans a goodbye party for Fiona, but she departs before the party begins. Fiona leaves the family an envelope with $50,000; Debbie and Veronica find it in the kitchen. The episode concludes with Fiona boarding a plane for an unknown destination. Ian spots Fiona's plane and silently wishes her luck on her journey.

Liam embraces his African-American heritage. Carl graduates from the military academy. Frank reconnects with Mikey.

Kev makes good on the workout coaching he auctioned off for the girls' school.
GALLAVICH!
After their original venue gets burned down, the Gallaghers scramble to find another place in time for Mickey and Ian's wedding. Lip tries to convince Tami to stay in Chicago. Debbie tries to turn over a new romantic leaf, but gets a visit from an unexpected someone. With Kev's new business booming, Veronica begins to wonder where the money is going.
THIS IS CHICAGO
Gentrification starts to affect Chicago due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which leads Kevin and Veronica to turn a profit by selling illegal products. Lip and Tami are also dealing with the financial effects of the pandemic, while Debbie faces hardship in landing jobs now she's on the sex offender registry. Carl is training in the police academy to become an officer. Ian and Mickey's honeymoon phase begin to fizzle out as they begin to face marital issues. Frank teams up with a director of documentary to give a look back on the history of the South Side.
GO HOME, GENTRIFIER!
Carl's first day of being a cop goes anticlimactic after learning how soft his partner is. Ian tries to make money the legal way, while Mickey reverts back to old ways to make his money. Debbie goes shopping for Franny's princesg-themed fifth birthday party, but goes overboard.
FRANCES FRANCIS FRANNY FRANK
Tami and Lip begin to have conflict as a family emergency comes at a very hefty cost. Debbie tries to juggle parenting and work, but it backfires. After a change in sex positions, Ian and Mickey argue about their relationship dynamics. Kevin starts to splurge and show off his money made from the cannabis business. Carl gets a new partner who is more concerned with street justice than his first training officer. Frank and Franny decide to spend the day together without Debbie's knowledge.
NIMBY
Mickey and the Gallaghers get a rude surprise as his father and neo-nazi family move in next door. Veronica and Debbie have a little competition at the annual Little Ms. SouthSide banquet. Mickey tries to get Ian to join him in his new security gig, but Ian is reluctant due to the risk of him and Mickey violating parole. Tami and Lip are invited to go to brunch with her old music teacher, but Lip figures out there was more than education that was shared. Carl begins to see the negative side of Officer Janes, which causes him to evaluate his role as a police officer.
SLAUGHTER
Ian and Mickey rethink their business plan after getting robbed. After finding out their house is for sale, Lip and Tammy begin to house hunt and find one with a terrible history. Debbie begins to grow suspicious about Sandy's whereabouts. An adolescent kid causes trouble for a business, but Carl and Leesie butt heads on whose tactic provides better results. Kevin and Frank come up with a plan to remove the Milkoviches from the neighborhood. Veronica starts canvassing Black constituents to vote for a rent control bill, only to find out for herself how scarce black people are in this new gentrified Chicago.
DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD....EH, SCREW IT
Debbie's relationship with Sandy is on the rocks when she finds out a bombshell. After getting fired, Lip tries to figure out how to provide for Tami and Freddy. Mickey deals with the years of trauma and abuse at the hands of Terry after he returns from the hospital from his brush with death. Veronica becomes class parent of the day at Amy and Gemma's school, but is horrified on the type of protocols and drills. Frank gets a surprising diagnosis. Carl begins to think he was raped after a quickie with a cashier named Tish.
TWO AT A BIKER BAR, ONE IN THE LAKE
Lip begins to seek other options for money as he doesn't want to live with Tami's family, but is met with resistance from Debbie. Kevin becomes an accessory to a crime. Frank tries to use his diagnosis to his benefit, but realizes that his situation is beyond his control. Veronica learns surprising news from her mother. Debbie and Sandy's relationship is pushed to think after another set of shocking secrets come to light. Carl is paranoid that Tish tried to "baby trap" him. After a fight with Debbie, Ian and Mickey begin searching for more gay friends.

Lip gets interrogated by the police on his knowledge of the robbery and the whereabouts of the bikes. Veronica and Kev decide to secure their relationship for good. Debbie spirals after her fights with Lip and Sandy, but after her day of partying, she decides to break up with Sandy because of her abandonment of her son, Prince. Ian and Mickey are forced to find a suitable care taker for Terry. Due to the Carl Curse, nobody wants to partner with him on the force, so the Chief puts him with the vice squad, where he races against the clock to keep Veronica and Kev out of prison. An incident at Liam's school caused by Frank leads to his diagnosis reveal.
SURVIVORS
Tension between Debbie and Lip begin to grow as he wants still sell the house. With Veronica in Kentucky, Kev is left in charge of their girls, which is proven to be a challenge. Frank tries to reconvene his old heist buddies for one more caper, but realizes that all of them are either dead, retired or disabled. Lip and Brad are forced to help out a major crime family. Ian and Mickey find out that Terry had a lost love, and uncover a different side of Terry before the bigotry. After his "accident" with the Vice squad, Carl gets relocated to the Eviction Unit, with his old partner, Officer Tipping. Since no one has reassured him of where he will be living, Liam begins to search elsewhere for a home.

The entire Chicago police department is looking for the Nighthawks painting that Frank stole from the Art Institute of Chicago, which forces the Gallaghers to find a way out his mess. Liam and Frank discuss how Frank's diagnosis will affect the family. Debbie tries to look for a new place to stay after they sell the house. Kevin and Veronica decide to make a big change to help further their lives. Lip makes tough decisions in order to sell the house. Ian and Mickey find a cheap apartment in the West Side. Carl and the police department come to a head when he sees how badly they treat poor people.
