From 1107 to 1111, three gargoyles traveled with Norway’s king, Sigurd Magnusson, accompanying his expedition from Scandinavia to Constantinople. During the journey, they took part in raids on port cities and the plundering of enemy ships. When the campaign ended, Magni and Modi chose to remain in Byzantium, while Skade, longing for the mountains, planned to return to Norway with the king.

Ragnarok may have contributed to the clan’s eventual decimation.
