Werewolf: Origins
Long ago in ancient Greece, Lycaon was a powerful king who openly defied the gods of Olympus. Many mortals of the time believed they owed more to Prometheus, who had stolen fire from the gods and gifted it to humanity, than to Zeus and the Olympians themselves. Lycaon shared this belief and held deep resentment toward the gods, particularly Zeus.
To challenge them, Lycaon invited Zeus, disguised as a mortal, to a banquet. To test whether his guest was truly divine, Lycaon committed an unforgivable act: he served Zeus human flesh. Enraged by the betrayal and the violation of sacred laws, Zeus revealed himself and struck Lycaon’s home with lightning, destroying it completely.
As punishment, Zeus cursed Lycaon and his fifty sons, transforming them into wolves. The curse stripped them of their humanity, binding their savagery to animal form and condemning their bloodline to live as monsters.
According to the lesser-known version of the legend, Lycaon and his sons later sought out the Druids, powerful and ancient shapeshifters, for aid. Though the Druids could not undo the curse or restore them fully to human form, they taught Lycaon and his offspring how to control their transformation, allowing them to shift between human and wolf at will.
Thus, the first werewolves were born.
Born to a tribe of Native American witches, Inadu was gifted immense power by the Elders while still in her mother’s womb, meant to become a symbol of prosperity. Instead, she hungered only for more power and slaughtered members of her own tribe. Terrified, the tribe resolved to kill her.
Hunted by wolves, Inadu was captured. Four of the tribe’s strongest Elders each bound their magic into a single, mighty axe, and on the night of a full moon, Inadu’s own mother was forced to strike the killing blow. With her dying breath, Inadu cast a final spell, fueled by her death, creating the werewolf curse. All present were bound to the full moon, doomed to transform into the very beasts used to hunt her.
Thus were born the seven original werewolf bloodlines, with her mother becoming the first Crescent.
