• Aegon Targaryen sought to unite the Seven Kingdoms under one ruler
• He landed at the mouth of the Blackwater Rush with his sisters, Visenya and Rhaenys
• The Targaryens established the Aegonfort, which later became King's Landing
• Aegon used his three dragons, Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes, to overwhelm his enemies
• The Stormlands were conquered after King Argilac Durrandon was defeated in battle
• Harren the Black refused to surrender and was killed when Balerion burned Harrenhal
• House Tully joined Aegon against the Ironborn and became rulers of the Riverlands
• The Iron Islands submitted after Harren the Black's death; House Greyjoy was later chosen to rule
• The Reach and Westerlands united against Aegon but suffered a crushing defeat at the Field of Fire
• King Mern IX Gardener was killed at the Field of Fire; House Tyrell surrendered and became Lords of the Reach
• King Loren I Lannister surrendered after the Field of Fire and retained control of the Westerlands
• Queen Regent Sharra Arryn surrendered after Visenya flew Vhagar to the Eyrie, King Ronnel Arryn asked for a ride
• King Torrhen Stark surrendered peacefully rather than fight the dragons, becoming known as "The King Who Knelt"
• The Crownlands were secured early in the campaign and became the personal domain of the Iron Throne
• Orys Baratheon married the daughter of the last Storm King and founded House Baratheon as rulers of the Stormlands
• Dorne refused to surrender and successfully resisted the Targaryens through guerrilla warfare
• Six of the Seven Kingdoms accepted Aegon's rule, founding the Targaryen dynasty
• Dorne remained independent until joining the realm peacefully through marriage nearly 200 years later
