Alert Signal

• A series of color-coded alert signals, aboard Starfleet vessels and outposts
• Issued by vocal command or by the ship's computer
• Designed by Malcolm Reed to improve reaction time during crisis situations

• Generally was the regular status of vessels when not under any other alert status
• In 3189, a green alert was used to signify that the ship was operating its cloaking device

• Used on the USS Discovery & the USS Glenn to signify that the ship was operating its spore drive

• Used when a starship ran on reserve power

• Used in the event of an imminent environmental systems failure
• Used as an indication that the ship was preparing to land or to take off
• Used when a starship activated its multi-vector assault mode
• Used on some ships to indicate it was about to dock

• It designated a ship-wide state of increased preparedness for possible crisis situations

• Used when a ship was entering a combat situation, or in the case of a critical systems failure
• Could also be ordered during various other emergency situations
• • Such as a ship being boarded, an imminent warp core breach, an evacuation order, or a viral medical emergency
