Command Chair

Also referred to as the captain's chair or simply the chair
Occupied by the captain of the vessel, or the officer who commanded the vessel in the captain's absence
Typically included compact status displays & control interfaces built into the armrests
Used to monitor ship functions, issue orders, & override selected systems when necessary
Command seating was normally placed near the center of the bridge
