- 22nd century: Referred to as "launch bays" & used a grappler
- 23rd Century: Involved depressurization when the space doors opened
- 24th Century: Force-fields allowed for the bay to stay pressurized;
- Tractor beams could be used to help guide ships within
- Nor class stations: Had landing pads, elevator would rise to the outer hull
