A secret organization that protects Great Britain against alien threats
1879: Created by Queen Victoria , after she became aware of the supernatural & aliens
7880s: Torchwood One became their leading branch, it was located in London
2000s: Due to a series of crises, they lost several bases, Torchwood 3 became the lead
2010: The Institute became defunct, it briefly resumed in 2011
2017: Torchwood eventually returned in Cardiff, continued to be active until at least 2069
