Adam, a creature built from human, demon, and machine parts, broke free after killing his creator. Unlike most monsters, Adam sought understanding rather than domination, studying both demons and humans with detached curiosity and lethal precision. From the shadows, Adam manipulated events to test his theories. He turned Initiative soldiers against demons, exposed the program’s flaws, and quietly pushed the Scoobies and the military toward collapse. His actions revealed the danger of trying to control the supernatural through force and science alone, and left the Initiative in ruins. Buffy defeated Adam by uniting Slayer, witch, and human power into one, using an "enjoining spell"
