Aegon's Conquest

Date: 2 BC - 1 AC

Aegon’s Conquest was the campaign by which Aegon Targaryen united most of Westeros under a single crown. Landing on the continent with his sisters/wives, Aegon brought with him three dragons, the decisive weapon that shattered centuries of divided rule. One by one, the kings of the Seven Kingdoms were defeated, bent the knee, or were destroyed, most famously at Harrenhal and the Field of Fire.

Not all resistance was crushed outright. Dorne resisted conquest through guerrilla war and political defiance, remaining independent for generations. In the lands Aegon did subdue, he allowed many defeated rulers to keep their titles as lords, reshaping them into a unified realm rather than ruling solely by terror.

The Conquest ended with Aegon crowned as the first King of the Iron Throne, marking Year 1 After Conquest and the beginning of Targaryen rule.
