Allowed the total destruction of a vessel

Activated as a last resort, usually to prevent a ship from falling into enemy hands

Activation sequence varied per ship, required command authorization codes

Once the countdown was activated, the ship's computer would give audio and/or visual warnings

Warnings could be muted

Could also be aborted by voice command
