Charles “Chucky” Lee Ray was born on March 9, 1950. Chucky was a serial strangler originally from New Jersey. On November 9, 1988 Charles was critically injured by the police and used voodoo to transfer his soul into Good Guy doll. He attempted transfer his soul into Andy Barclay but was killed by Andy’s mother and detective Mike Norris. Chucky was accidentally resurrected twice but killed again both times.

Chucky's girlfriend, Tiffany, eventually found his remains; he had been thrown into a giant fan, and sewed Chucky back together. She uses voodoo to reanimate him but Chucky was once again killed a few days later. Chucky was somehow resurrected and he mailed himself to an adult Andy Barclay’s house. As he snuck of the box, Andy shot him. Barclay kept Chucky’s severed head, that was still alive, and tortured it for years.
