Daniel Jackson was born on July 8, 1965. Jackson eventually grew up to become an archaeologist, an expert in ancient writing systems, languages and cultures. He was ostracized from the scientific community for his radical theories involving Egyptian pyramids having been built by aliens.

Daniel was enlisted by the air force where he eventually deciphered and unlocked the Stargate. He was part of the first mission Through the Stargate which brought them to Abydos. Once there, Jackson met and fell in love with a native woman named Sha're. After defeating Ra and freeing the people of Abydos, Dr. Jackson decided not to return to Earth.

One year later, Sha're was kidnapped by Apophis and chosen as host by the Goa'uld Amaunet. Daniel joined SG-1 to try and save her but remained with the team after her death until 2002, when he ascended to avoid death by radiation poisoning.

Daniel descended and eventually rejoined SG-1 in 2003, where he remained to this day.
