Fenton Crackshell was hired to be Scrooge’s accountant due to his ability to count any amount of anything accurately down to the smallest iota in a matter of seconds. One day when he said "Blatherskite" around a high-tech robo armor, the suit responded and donned itself upon him turning him into Gizmoduck, a nearly indestructible combination of man and machine.

Despite a rocky start, Gizmoduck soon proved his worth and was hired as Scrooge's security guard.
