Goldar and his older brother Silverback were from Titan, the largest moon of Saturn. He served Lord Zedd and had earned many victories in his name. After Silverback told Zedd that he would rather work for Dark Specter than join Rita Repulsa in her fight against Zordon, Zedd mortally wounded him and had Goldar behead him. Afterwards, he agreed to join them in their fight against Zordon.

Goldar and the rest of Rita's team were sealed in a dumpster by Zordon. 10,000 years later, two astronauts accidentally released them and sought out to conquer the Earth. Goldar led his Empress' very first invasion against Zordon’s new Power Rangers but was quickly defeated. He fought many battles in Rita’s name and formed an adversarial relationship with Jason Lee Scott and Tommy Oliver. Rita had his wings removed due to his Constance failure at defeating the rangers.

When Lord Zedd returned and banished Rita, Goldar eagerly defected and joined Lord Zeed’s side. Zedd restored Goldar’s wings as a reward for his loyalty. As Zedd's right-hand man, Goldar led many missions for him. Rita later returned to the Moon and successfully seduced Zedd into marrying her as part of her plan of usurping Zedd. When he later discovered it was a cover for Rita's plot, he immediately made Finster create an antidote for the love spell that Rita used. Goldar discovered to his dismay that Zedd had come to love Rita on his own, even after the antidote has been applied.

Goldar went with Zedd and Rita to the Cimmerian Planet for Dark Specter's conference. When Zordon sacrificed himself, the wave of good energies swept across the universe and turned Goldar to dust.
