HMS Bounty

The Bird-of-Prey, was a 23rd century Klingon starship.

The IKS B'rel was a prototype Bird-of-Prey, a design that came out of the Klingon-Romulan alliance in the mid-23rd century; equipped with a cloaking device the class saw the Klingons develop new, more stealthy, tactics.

In 2285 the Qel'Poh was commanded by Commander Kruge. The ship went to the planet Genesis to try and obtain the device but was confronted by the USS Enterprise. Kruge and the bulk of his crew were killed in the attack. Kirk and his crew commandeer the ship, and brought it to Vulcan.

The Qel'Poh was renamed HMS Bounty, and after three months of exile on Vulcan, Kirk and his crew used the ship to return to Earth in order to face charges regarding their unauthorized appropriation of the Enterprise. During their journey home, however, they were made aware of the destructive effects on Earth of an extremely powerful alien probe. Upon further investigation, Spock realized that the probe was attempting to establish communication with humpback whales, a species which had been extinct for two hundred years.

The crew traveled back in time and retrieved two humpbacks. When they returned to the future, the ship was disabled by the probe and crash landed in the San Francisco Bay. The Bounty was subsequently recovered from the bay, though finding it took some time as its cloaking device had reactivated. The ship was then restored to functionality and placed on display in the Fleet Museum orbiting Athan Prime.
