The conflict began shortly after Voyager became stranded far from Federation space and encountered the Kazon, a fragmented society struggling to assert power after the collapse of their former oppressors. Voyager’s advanced technology immediately made it a target of immense strategic interest. Multiple Kazon sects sought to capture the ship, believing its weapons, replicators, and propulsion systems would grant dominance over rival factions. These attempts ranged from ambushes and political manipulation to direct military assaults. Voyager resisted each effort while attempting to prevent the spread of advanced technology, maintaining Federation principles despite its isolation and constant threat. The conflict intensified when Seska, a former Voyager crew member and undercover Cardassian agent, allied herself with the Kazon. Using her intimate knowledge of Voyager’s systems, she aided Kazon forces in several major engagements. She helped them capture the ship and maroon its crew. Voyager was later retaken, Seska died and the conflict ended permanently, when Voyager travelled past Kazon space.
