Q Civil War

Date: 2373

Following the suicide of Quinn in 2372, the first death of a Q in untold ages, the Continuum destabilized. Though Quinn was gone, his advocacy for change, individuality, and freedom inspired a faction that challenged the long-standing status quo.

The movement was led by Q, once a defender of tradition, who declared himself the herald of reform. When the ruling faction attempted to suppress the dissidents, open conflict followed. The war manifested across the galaxy as dangerous anomalies, including false-vacuum supernovae that consumed surrounding matter, which Q described as “galactic crossfire.”

Seeking a resolution, Q proposed creating a Q–Human hybrid child with Janeway, believing a new life could unite the Continuum. Janeway rejected the plan as both unwanted and insufficient, arguing it avoided the deeper causes of the conflict. She instead encouraged Q to reconcile with another Q. Q and his former companion conceived a child, creating the first new Q in over ten thousand years.

The birth of the child, later called “Junior,” ended the war and was seen as the beginning of a new era. In gratitude, Q named Janeway the child’s godmother.
