- Do not posses the ability to shift from birth; occurs during their youth
- Must mentally imprint an animal s form before they can take its form
- Usually have a "go-to shift"
- Assume characteristics of their go-to shifts in their human form
- Skinwalkers can take other human forms; extremely dangerous

Weaknesses:

- Revert back to human form if they lose consciousness
- Full moon, causes them to shift against their will
