Created by Merlin, the hat is capable of absorbing and accumulating magic. It can also trap magical beings inside of itself. Every time some extra magic is absorbed, another star appears on the hat.

Merlin cursed it, turning it into a box, preventing anyone who has succumbed to darkness from opening it and only someone who has been tempted into darkness but has not given into it can close it.
