The Technodrome served as Shredder and Krang’s base, transportation and a battle fortress. It was designed and built by Krang and his main engineer, Drakus, in Dimension X, Krang's home. When Krang was separated from his body and banished to Earth, the Technodrome was sent with him.

The Technodrome was one of the toughest war machines ever created, surviving in some of the harshest environments on Earth and in Dimension X. It was capable of surface, subterranean, and underwater travel. If equipped with an engine powerful enough, it could also journey into outer space. It was equipped with a Trans-Dimensional Portal that allowed it and its occupants to travel between various dimensions.

After many battles, the Turtles destroyed the Technodrome's main engines and trapped it, Krang and Shredder in Dimension X.

When Krang and Shredder freed Ch'rell, he overpowered them and took control of the Technodrome. Ch’rell, better known as Utrom Shredder, converted it into a flying fortress, using Utrom Technology. This upgraded Technodrome had a shield that could absorb the energy of an attack and redirect it back at its attacker. It was also able to erase an entire universe from existence, which could potentially threaten the entire multiverse through means of chain reaction.
