A Xindi test weapon carved a swath across Earth, killing seven million people. The attack was carried out in response to false intelligence supplied by future factions seeking to manipulate history. In retaliation, Earth launched Enterprise NX-01 into the Delphic Expanse to prevent a full-scale planet-killer from being deployed. Captain Jonathan Archer conducted a desperate campaign under wartime authority, pushing Starfleet beyond its early ideals as humanity fought for survival. As the mission progressed, Archer uncovered the truth: the Xindi themselves had been deceived. Divided into multiple subspecies, the Xindi Council fractured when it became clear the future intelligence was fabricated. Humans and dissenting Xindi factions ultimately allied to destroy the completed weapon before it could strike Earth. The war ended without conquest or surrender, but with mutual recognition of manipulation and shared responsibility. The Xindi joined the wider interstellar community, and the conflict profoundly reshaped Starfleet doctrine.
